Description
To date, it has been proven that telemedicine approaches in paediatric practice may be used to provide an alternative to traditional patient visits, increase access to medical care and reduce the number of existing discrepancies, including in the medical care of children under the age of three.
It has been proven that the maximum level of patient healthcare protection will be achieved if telemedicine services are provided in the mode of “hybrid doctor-patient interaction”, which means:
- a combination of telemedicine visits and personal contacts when necessary;
- use of telemedicine primarily as a screening tool (identification of “anxiety symptoms”, “safety-netting” measures;
- implementation of remote patient monitoring tools (TytoCare);
Implementation of telemedicine measures for patients with a recorded medical history and a pre-established patient-doctor relationship ( hospital stay in the neonatal unit of the RCSC)
Telemedicine requires new and unique competencies of paediatricians and other healthcare professionals compared to traditional healthcare.
The best way (in terms of speed of implementation and financial costs) to provide relevant knowledge and skills is to include telemedicine in postgraduate medical curricula (thematic improvement cycles) with the development of standards for paediatric telemedicine services and a corresponding list of paediatrician competencies
